Song Dynasty Portable Tea Cup
This tea set is designed master artisans at the Southern Song Dynasty Kiln Museum in Hangzhou, from my recent visit to one of China's largest tea plantation cities.
This design in particular has won industry standard awards in 2017.
The parts include a lid, tea filter, tea cup, and a holder which can also serve as container for draining excess liquid for tea ceremony.
The technique used in making this tea set was same of that from the Song Dynasty (960-1279), the heyday of Chinese porcelain. These ceramic ware were so valued during their day that they were used as tribute and yearly taxes to the imperial court.
In terms of technical expertise, inventiveness, and aesthetic perfection of glaze and shape, the Song period stands unrivaled for the quality of its ceramic ware.
